“Sonata for Patrizia” Op. 62 –
This is the first of the three sonatas entitled and dedicated to Patrizia. I was urged to put into music the vibrant emotions filling my heart, my soul and my mind for the overwhelming love I feel for her, my soulmate. This composition features whirling and passionate impulses and shining chromatic virtuoso passages, alternating delicate moments announced by directions written on the score of “Ritratto dolcissimo del viso” (“Portrait of her sweet face”) that reveal its whole genesis. This piano piece is extremely effective and it is characterised by an overwhelming virtuoso display and remarkable lyricism. I am glad I managed to express all my emotional palette in a form I had never tackled before.
