Evocations from Passion (Paraphrase) Op.61 – I have always loved this old traditional Neapolitan melody, and occasionally I enjoyed improvising variations on this theme, but I never resolved to put it down in writing. After many brilliant inspirations, I regretted never writing them. So I composed a paraphrase for concert where sparkling and bold technical combinations prevail; I aimed at arousing timbre and acoustic effects that excite and astonish the listener. I like performing both this paraphrase and the previously written one because they give me the opportunity to express my virtuoso nature.
